Once you’re a proud graduate of a nail technician program, you can move on to the rest of the licensing process. The South Carolina Board of Cosmetology charges a $175 fee, which you must pay upfront. After passing both required licensing exams, you may start working as a licensed nail technician.

After you earn your license, and celebrate this milestone, you will need to renew every two years, in odd-numbered years. The deadline for your renewal is March 10th. The cost to renew your nail technician license in South Carolina is $52. If you are reinstating your license, you will pay $152. South Carolina requires 12 hours of continuing education units between each renewal period.
