F rom Aviation to Funeral Service, Game Design to Plant Science to Accounting — areas of study at Mercer are as broad and as diverse as the interests and aspirations of the students we serve. Earn a degree or credit-bearing certificate, gain career training, or simply take a course or two to satisfy lifelong learning.

Mercer County Community College offers a vast selection of courses, credit and noncredit, to meet and perhaps even exceed your educational expectations. Credit courses can be applied toward career or transfer programs, degree as well as credit certificate. Noncredit courses and programs serve your goals of preparing for a new career, advancing in your current job, learning new skills, developing a personal interest, or satisfying personal enrichment.

Choosing a Program

Mercer offers a wide variety of programs which lead directly to employment or to transfer to other colleges for further education. Professional staff and faculty are available to assist students in selecting programs most suited to their needs and goals. (See sections on Cooperative Education. Articulation agreements that Mercer has signed with other colleges, including a program-sharing agreement with Bucks County Community College. benefit degree and non-degree students with broadened learning opportunities, convenience, and/or monetary savings.

It is important for students to exercise patience and care in selecting programs of study and to think about the future and their answers to the following questions:

  • What careers interest me?
  • Is a four-year college education in my future?
  • What credits will I be able to transfer to a four-year college?
  • Which college program will provide the best training for the career I want?
  • What are the academic requirements of the program that is best for me? Given my abilities and interests, am I being realistic?
  • How can I plan my financial resources and meet personal responsibilities so that I can go to college?
  • What college services and financial programs are available to me?

Acceptance in a particular program is based on an applicant’s qualifications as evidenced in transcripts of previous academic work, on professional recommendations, and on interest and estimated potential for success in the program. Student enrollment in certain programs is limited due to available physical facilities and staff. Preference for space in these programs is given to Mercer County residents and early applicants.

Mercer County Community College will not discriminate against any applicant on the basis of personal beliefs or characteristics such as political views, religion, national or ethnic origin, race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability unrelated to job or program requirements.

Students who are undecided about which degree program to choose or who want to take some courses before choosing a degree program may register for individual courses provided any specified entry requirements (prerequisites and corequisites) are met. Students who are under 18 years of age must submit written approval from a parent or guardian and school counselor to the Student Records office before they will be permitted to register for courses.


Students are permitted to change from one program to another provided that admission requirements for the new program are satisfied and space is available. (See procedure .)
