Emmanuel College

Students interested in graphic design careers can pursue a bachelor’s degree at Emmanuel College. The school’s Art Department offers programs in art history, education and therapy; digital photography; studio art and graphic design.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design

Students must complete the department’s core courses, including design and composition, art survey, basic drawing, introduction to digital processes and studies in 3-D form. Graphic design and technology students also complete courses in printmaking, life drawing, digital photography and graphic design. An internship is required.

Minor in Graphic Design

The minor in graphic design consists of six classes. Students complete courses in design and composition, basic drawing, introduction to digital processes and graphic design. In addition to required courses, students select two electives to complete the minor.

Massachusetts College of Art and Design

The Massachusetts College of Art and Design offers undergraduate art degrees in a variety of areas, including animation, painting, art history and photography. Degree programs in sculpture, fashion design, ceramics and graphic design are also available. Students can pursue a certificate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

Certificate in Graphic Design

This program is designed for working professionals, and courses are primarily offered at night; it usually takes three years of study to earn the certificate. Some of the required courses include graphic and interactive design, typography, print production and portfolio development.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design

Students complete 120 credits to earn this degree. Courses include graphic design, typography, drawing and form studies. Classes in information architecture and art history, as well as studio electives, are also part of the program. Students also take between 24 and 30 credits of liberal arts classes.

Degrees at Newbury College – Brookline

Newbury College’s School of Arts, Science and Design offers bachelor’s degree programs in a variety of areas, such as interior and graphic design, mass communication and computer science. The graphic design program combines art and design courses with business and liberal arts classes to provide students with a well-rounded education.

Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design

This program requires completion of 121 credits. Major courses cover drawing, design, typography and photography.
